Relapse Records were charge with a sizeable task; remaster and reissue the album dubbed “the first true death metal album”; Death‘s 1987 debut Scream Bloody Gore. The result was the both two and three-disc Deluxe packages with a restoration courtesy of Alan Douches again whose credentials include production duties for, Cannibal Corpse, Control Denied, amongst many others. Along with the remastered album, the 3CD Deluxe Edition includes three rehearsal sessions prior to the recording of the album which are available for the first time. Working from the original tapes has given Douches a chance to ensure that Scream Bloody Gore gains the sonic assault which Death ultimately became famed for in later releases. However, not to the extent in which the album sounds radically different and for the most part the album retains all its facets and nuances which were hallmarks of the original.
